Recall Alert

Food manufacturer, Bellisio Foods, Inc., has recalled a number of boneless "pork rib shaped" frozen meat patties due to foreign materials contamination. The specific item included in the recall is called the Boston Market Boneless Pork Rib Shaped Patty with BBQ Sauce and Mashed Potatoes.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the nationwide recall on Tuesday. The Food Safety and Inspection Service frequently checks up on recalls of food items like this to ensure that the recall is being adhered to and items have been completely removed from shelves.

How to Identify Affected Packages

Affected products were made from Sept. 9, 2015 to Dec. 14, 2015. Best if used by dates on the packaging are: 09/09/2016, 09/22/2016, 10/08/2016, 10/30/2016, and 12/14/2016. They also show the establishment number "EST 18297."

The recalled rib shaped food items were sent to food retailers across the country. Consumers are being asked not to consume the items because they could contain either hard plastic pieces or broken glass inside them. Affected products should either be disposed of or taken back to the stores where they were purchased.

No Injuries Reported So Far

Fortunately, no consumers have reported suffering injury as a result of consuming the frozen pork shaped food. Consumers are advised to contact their doctors if they suspect they have suffered illness or injury as a result of eating this potentially dangerous food product.

It is unfortunate that a food item, which possibly contains broken plastic or glass pieces, would end up on grocery store shelves around the country. It is also extremely negligent on the part of the food manufacturer, Bellisio Foods, to allow such an item to be offered for sale. Should a consumer be seriously injured by this frozen meat, Bellisio will likely be subject to a defective product lawsuit.
