A nude woman, who was purportedly high on the designer drug, Spice, was arrested in Anchorage after she allegedly damaged fixtures and furniture at a Subway restaurant. According to police, the woman removed her clothes and went on a rampage in the fast food establishment.
Police received a call at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday that a woman had entered the Subway, acted strangely, and then removed her clothes and started trashing the location. She was later subdued by officers, arrested and transported to a hospital.
"Broke Just About Everything You Could Find"
According to police Sgt. Shaun Henry, She "started breaking furniture, destroyed the store, knocked over computers, ripped the ceiling down, sprayed a fire extinguisher all over, locked herself in the bathroom for a while, broke just about everything you could find."
One witness who called police said, "I really didn't want to get anywhere near her. She was smearing feces all over stuff."
"People described her as 'a little crazy,'" the police sergeant said.
Medics who examined the woman say that she was probably high on the drug spice, which is now illegal, but was once legally sold as a type of synthetic or herbal marijuana throughout the United States. Spice includes various chemical compounds mixed with different kinds of herbs. It is often sold as potpourri or incense at convenience stores, but the drug has been banned in Alaska.
Spice Can Cause Many Bizarre Behaviors
Henry said that people who take spice can exhibit a lot of bizarre behaviors. They might simply lie down and fall asleep. They might also become violent or hostile. The extreme reactions people might have to the drug are unpredictable.
Fortunately, although the woman inflicted large-scale damage on the Subway restaurant, none of the employees or patrons were hurt in the incident. According to Henry, the woman in this instance will probably get charged with various felony crimes after being released from the medical facility.
