This past weekend, I got to see Lake Michigan for the first time. It was so massive, I almost felt like I was at the beach. Anyways, this week, I decided to write my “weird law” blog about the weird laws from Michigan as my tribute to Lake Michigan. The state laws that may have been true at one point in history are probably no longer enforced today. For example, according to one Michigan law, it is illegal for a woman to cut her hair without obtaining her husband's permission. This can't be real, right?
If you want to learn about other strange laws from Michigan keep on reading... Enjoy!
It Is Illegal For A Woman To Cut Her Hair Without Her Husband's Permission
Michigan: A law in Michigan apparently forbids women from chopping their hair off without first obtaining the husband's permission. When researching this law on the internet, I came across several comments by women complaining about this law. Next thing you know women in Michigan are going to want the right to vote too! The nerve! My guess is that this is a very old law and not enforced today. I mean, it better not be enforced! Any thoughts about this silly law?
It Is Illegal For A Robber To File A Lawsuit If He Or She Got Hurt In Your House
Michigan: A robber would be stupid to file a lawsuit against the owner of the house he robbed…unless of course he actually wants to be tried for breaking and entering. To each their own, right?
It Is Illegal For A Farmer To Sleep With His Pigs, Cows, Horses, Goats, and Chickens
Michigan: This is a pretty weird one and I do not really want to know why this law was once necessary.
What do you think about these weird laws? Are there any weird laws that you find strange?
