In line with our weekly “weird law” blogs, this week we will look at some strange dating laws from across the country. Make sure you read these weird dating laws, or else you might end up with a criminal record for smooching longer than legally permitted! Here are this weeks weird dating laws. Enjoy!
Kentucky: In some Kentucky towns, it is illegal to marry the same man three times. But I thought the third time was a charm!
Maryland: In Halethorpe Maryland, it is illegal to kiss for more than 1 second…
Iowa: It is illegal to make out for more than 5 minutes. I guess this is better than the 1-second Maryland rule.
Iowa: It is illegal for a man in Ames, Iowa to take more than three gulps of beer while holding his wife in his arms in bed.
Idaho: It is illegal to engage in any type of public display of affection for more than 18 minutes.
Florida: It is illegal to have sexual relations with a porcupine. Good to know…
South Carolina: If a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, the marriage must take place. According to the law, if a man over the age of sixteen seduces an unmarried woman by means of deception and promise of marriage, he will be guilty of a misdemeanor. Good!
Illinois: According to state law, all bachelors should be called master when addressed by their significant other. Interesting… And bachelorettes should be referred to as "her highness" in my opinion. Do you think the state legislator who wrote this law was a man or woman? I have my opinions.
Minnesota: In Alexandria, Minnesota, It is illegal for a man to make love to his wife with the smell of garlic, onions, or sardines on his breath.
Utah: In Tremonton, Utah, it is illegal for a woman to have sex with a man while riding in an ambulance. Her punishment: Her name will be published in the Tremonton newspaper.
