For the past 14 years Burger King’s largest franchisee, Carrols Restaurant Group Inc., has been dealing with charges of sexual harassment brought against them by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  The EEOC accused Carrols Corp. employees of subjecting female workers to sexual harassment that included “obscene comments, unwanted touching, exposure of genitalia, strip searches and rape.”

After 14 years, Carrols Corp. has finally agreed with the EEOC to settle the sexual harassment charges by agreeing to pay $2.5 million to 89 female employees around the country.

While Carrols Corp. does not admit to any illegal behavior, the company has agreed to supplement its anti-harassment policies, improve training, and report to the EEOC for two years.

  • The power to investigate, litigate and resolve unfair employment practices.
  • The power to take action in a federal district court for appropriate relief and preliminary relief pending disposition of a charge.
  • The power to issue a notice of a right to sue to the charging party following administrative proceedings.
