I wanted to inform the readers of this blog that the Salmonella outbreak has also reached dog treats.  Charlee Bear Products is recalling certain lots of their “Protein Crunch Bars” due to possible Salmonella contamination.  According to the FDA, the recalled lots of the dog treats had a positive result for Salmonella.

    • Lot number 20212- Best by date: 07-20-2015
  • Product 2 Name: Charlee Bear Protein Crunch Bars – Chicken Recipe with Sweet Potatoes
  • Size: 5.5 oz packages
  • UPC Code: 8710890001
  • Lot Number: 20112
  • “Best By” Date: 07-19-2015

Risk to Humans:

Some symptoms to look for after handling the recalled Charlee Bear products include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea or bloody diarrhea
  • Abdominal cramping
  • Fever

If you or a loved one experiences any of these symptoms after having contact with the recalled Charlee Bear Products, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Risk to Pets:

Pets with Salmonella infections may have the following symptoms:

  • Diarrhea or bloody diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Lazy
  • Decreased appetite
  • Abdominal pain

If your pet displays any of these symptoms after consuming the recalled Charlee Bear Products, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

Illnesses to Date:

To date, there have been no reported human or pet illnesses.

Refund:

Consumers who have purchased the recalled dog treats are entitled to a full refund.  All they must do is return the product to the place where they purchased it.
