(CNN) NEW YORK -- An American businessman and company have been indicted in a federal investigation of the United Nations' Iraq oil-for-food program, U.S. Attorney David Kelley announced Thursday.

David Chalmers, head of the Texas-based company Bayoil, which participated in the U.N. program, was arrested in Houston earlier Thursday, Kelley said at a news conference in New York.
