Hawaii judge halts furloughs

HONOLULU (AP) — A state judge has blocked Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle from forcing public employees to take three unpaid days off per month.

Five States Adopt “Fire-Safe” Cigarettes Law

On January 1st, 2009, laws mandating stores sell only cigarettes that are slow-burning and comprised of fire-safe paper went into effect in Delaware, Iowa, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.
