Over a hundred mothers who took Zoloft during their pregnancies have filed Zoloft birth defect lawsuits against Pfizer, the manufacturer of Zoloft, because of the health problems it has caused their babies after they were exposed to the drug.  Plaintiffs claim that Zoloft caused their babies a number of birth defects.  Additionally, plaintiffs claim that Pfizer was negligent in failing to warn them about the risks associated with taking the drug.  They claim that Pfizer knew (or should have known) that the use of Zoloft during pregnancy had the potential to cause birth defects.  Of course, Pfizer is defending their product by claiming that the drug is safe and their warnings are in conformity with the FDA rules and regulations.

However, due to the increasing number of Zoloft lawsuits, the Zoloft multi district litigation has been established in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania under Judge Cynthia Rufe to handle the claims.  We will have to wait and see what Judge Rufe’s decision will be.  Until then, if you or your child has suffered injuries from Zoloft, keep reading, as the following information may be useful.
