Nanny Arrested for Stabbing Two New York Children

Recently in the news there was a tragic story detailing every parent’s worst nightmare.
Marina and Kevin Krim hired Yoselyn Ortega to take care of their precious children. However Ortega, who has been in their life for about a year, is now arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing two of the three Krim children: 6-year-old, Lucia, and a 2-year-old, Leo. The two children were found stabbed in the bathroom of their Upper West Side apartment by their mother.
After stabbing the children, Ortega allegedly tried killing herself by slitting her throat.
Although Ortega has been arrested, she had not yet been charged.
Here are some helpful tips to consider when hiring a nanny:
- Hire a private investigator
- Run a background check
- Make sure to ask your nanny for at least three references.
- Look up public criminal records
Although this process may appear time consuming, this tragedy teaches us that you can never be too careful when it comes to your children’s safety. It is important to explore every possible avenue to ensure your children’s safety.
