The Accutane lawsuits continue to pile up.  After Accutane lawsuits were consolidated in 2004, most new Accutane lawsuits are now taking place in New Jersey.  However, this does not mean you must be a resident of New Jersey in order to file an Accutane lawsuit, this is just where a majority of the legal proceedings are taking place.  The state of New Jersey is the battleground for many of these Accutane Lawsuits because the drug manufacturer, Hoffman-LaRoche is headquartered there.

How Many Accutane Lawsuits Are There?

While the amount of Accutane lawsuits is changing daily, on May 14, the New Jersey state judiciary stated that 3,268 Accutane users have filed lawsuits.  There have been several lawsuits that have either gone to jury trial or settled.  In fact, in one jury award, the amount awarded increased from 2.6 million to 25.16 million.  The reason for this increase is because of the seriousness of the injuries and to send a message to Hoffman-LaRoche.

How Much Is An Accutane Lawsuit Worth?

While each person has their own specific injuries, and therefore their own unique damages, it appears that Hoffman-LaRoche has set aside money to deal with these lawsuits.  Some estimate that Hoffman has set aside nearly $1billion to settle lawsuits and pay legal fees.  However, just because the company has set aside this money, it doesn’t mean that every person with an Accutane injury will receive a settlement.  In order to fully understand what your legal rights are, whether you might have a case, and what you should do next, you should contact an experienced Accutane attorney.
