File this under strange areas of the law.  The smoking gun is reporting that suspect Joshua Lee Joehlin was arrested for engaging in a lewd and lascivious act with a minor (i.e. likely some sort of sexual activity).  However, on his police report under the section about “Religion” he stated his religion as “redneck.”

What Is On A Police Report?

Usually when a police officer is called to investigate a potential crime they take certain information.  This usually includes the name of the suspect and any alias they have, their race, sex, age, date of birth, place of birth, marital status, height, weight, build, complexion, eyes, hair, driver’s license, address, phone number, and other personal information.

The officer will then usually note the location of arrest, what the offense was, information about the victim and any property that is either on the person, was lost, damaged, burned, seized or found.

What is exactly recorded on a police report varies by state, but each contains general information about the suspect, the victim, and the crime.
