Almost every news outlet is reporting that Hugh Hefner (84) has proposed to his girlfriend, Playmate Crystal Harris (23). This is the third potential wedding for Hefner (he was married once before, and recently kicked his ex-wife out of her house, which was next door to the Playboy Mansion). However, to get married to Harris, Hefner had to finalize a divorce to Playmate Kimberly Conrad. My question, what do you get Hef as a wedding gift? A sexy-grandpa shirt?
Playboy Prenuptial Agreement
Given the high rate of divorce, Hef’s age, and the fact he has 2 failed marriages, it would probably be wise for him to have a prenuptial agreement. Depending on what state you live in, the property that you and a spouse have may be considered joint property or separate property. However, almost every state will allow you to form a prenuptial agreement. A prenuptial agreement can be incredibly helpful. This agreement lists all individually owned property, such as homes and businesses, family assets, stocks and bonds, savings accounts as well as debts, and specifies what will and will not remain individually owned property after the legalization of marriage. Prenuptial agreements also specify whether spousal support will be paid in the event of a divorce, and the intentions regarding distribution of individually owned property upon death.
Too Old To Marry?
In some states, a couple is allowed to form a domestic partnership instead of actually getting married. While a domestic partnership is often thought of as a way for same-sex couples to receive benefits and privileges that a married couple would have, they can also be used for people who are of a certain age (usually those over 62). Here, a domestic partnership may work since Hef is over 62, but it is likely that he would go through with a full marriage instead of a domestic partnership or civil union.
What do you think? Should there be a maximum age for marriage since there is a minimum age?
