The FDA has cracked down on those trying to scam the flu fearing public. It seems like a lot of the hype has calmed down over the swine flu, but there are still those being infected, as well as those looking to benefit from the fear. The FDA has targeted more than 100 products, claiming to cure or prevent the flu, which are in fact phony.
The FDA’s office of enforcement reports that they were seeing as many as 10 new websites a day hawking fraudulent swine flu products. Most operators have removed false references and/or claims or removed their products entirely since the FDA has cracked down, but there are still many products out there.
Operators of these websites face product seizures and even criminal prosecution. If you or someone you know have found yourself with a patently fake product, visit LawInfo to find an attorney and determine whether you might have any legal recourse.
