I strongly feel that no child should be charged as adults. It is very sad and terrifying when children commit such horrific crimes, but aren't the parents responsible to raise their children? Society should learn more about helping troubled children instead of punishing them as adults. Do you remember when you were 8 yrs. old? Do actually recall being responsible with your homework or had a slight clue of what life was about? Parents should be more involved with their children and ask for counseling etc. People we should love, learn and teach our kids of consequences when things go wrong...don't just toss them away to rot. TEXAS HELP OUR KIDS

I dont think a minor of his age should be sentenced as an adult this child had a reason for doing this to his father and the other man it should be looked into before we put any judgements on paper or out loud..... This child deserves a second chance you wouldnt teach a eight year old to drive, so why would you teach a eight old to shoot a gun, he obviously thought that it was okay to shoot and kill because his dad has taught him to shoot and kill.....This case should be looked at you wouldnt hold a child to the same capacity as an adult or teenage because he hasnt just yet been fully develop....The child didnt know what he was getting his self into maybe he knew he was trying to shoot and stop him from what he was doing to him.....or he just was doing what he was taught to shoot and kill...

I have to debate the For on this in my speech class. Is there any concrete evidence on this subject? As far as concrete reasons why they should be tried as adults? Under what circumstances do you feel they should be tried, and Why? And what age is too young if any?

I am a simple sophmore in highschool and i am debating this topic. Mainly the subject should be judged on a case by case basis. It is wrong for there to be a chance that a minor of any age could be senteced to life in prison.

Yes, I believe an 8 yr old should face the same punishment as an adult if they committed a crime like that. I know it may sound wrong to most people but they need to remember you dont know what drove him to do that and he could possible do it again in the future

Yes, children should have to face the same law as adults. It is unfair to the victims and their loved ones. The law should serve the victims too.

Do we allow 8 year olds to drive cars? Do we allow them to vote? The answers to the above questions are "of course not, because an 8 year old does not possess the reasoning abilities of an adult." But when that same 8 year old commits murder, all of a sudden he has the reasoning abilities of an adult. I think not. I am not saying that the child should not be punished, but not in the same matter that an adult would be punished. Children should be sentenced to a juvenile facility. The maximum age that they can be held should be increased though for older children who commit crimes. I would not be happy for a 15 year old who commits murder to be released at 18.
