Prostitution, Infidelity, Scandal …. Even the Governor of New York is Unfaithful

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a high-priced prostitution ring, Emperors Club VIP.  Yes, he is married…with  three daughters.  He recently issued an apology for the injury to his wife, family, and the public for “violating his obligations” to them.  Media reports indicate that several people running the prostitution ring knew Mr. Spitzer (by the fake name he used), indicating his “involvement” with the prostitutes constituted a recurring violation of his marital obligations.  

When our leaders and heroes are unfaithful to their wives, what message does that send to the average married man?  That it’s ok to cheat?  That everybody does it?  That the excitement of a high priced hooker is worth risking your marriage, your family, your career, and even the public’s trust in our leaders?

    You raise some good points…

    But in our society, I think it’s pretty clear it is marginally acceptable to be unfaithful, especially for men. Just review the history of numerous former presidents.

    But before we throw stones, let’s assume we don’t know all the facts… Maybe his wife cheated on him? Maybe she encouraged him to visit? Maybe he was …ok nevermind.

    Having never been with a hooker, I can not say what it would be worth. I’m assuming he expected it to be highly discreet and thus not pose a threat. I can’t say what was his motivation for seeking out paid sex. But I would love to hear his honest answer.
