The USDA recalled over 140 million pounds of beef on Sunday. Officials say this is the largest meat recall in U.S. history. “Because the cattle did not receive complete and proper inspection, Food Safety and Inspection Service has determined them to be unfit for human food,” Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer said in a statement. However, since the recall affects meat products dating back to February 2006, officials say most of the meat has probably already been eaten.
