Paul O’Donnell, a Roman Catholic monk and advisor to Terri Schiavo’s parents, said the 41-year-old died at the Hospice Home Woodside, where she had been receiving care. The announcement came at 9:50 a.m.

Her haunting right-to-live, right-to-die case fragmented her family and polarized her nation. Schiavo died 13 days after her feeding tube was removed.

”It is with great sadness that it has been reported to us that Terri Schiavo has passed away,” O’Donnell said. He said her parents and other relatives would make a statement later.

Her husband, Michael Schiavo, reportedly was in her hospice room when she died. A representative of her parents said the husband prevented them from being there at the end, the feud between the two sides enduring beyond Terri Schiavo’s death.
